Today we added a new forum at the NAS-Central Buffalo Forums for Kirkwood based devices such as the LS-CHL V2 and the LS-XHL. Also there is a new sub-forum for the MV78100 based Terastation III.
We have moved some posts into these new areas to keep things tidy!

To allow for a more centralised and simple method of reporting news to the NAS-Central wikis we have made some changes to the news system for the wiki front pages:
- News from all wikis moved to blog and categorised
- We made a custom RSS feed merger that runs hourly to build the news feed
- Wiki feeds each contain NAS-Central, NAS Community News the and manufacturer specific category for that wiki
- We wrote a MediaWiki plugin that works the way we want it to to display it!
If you want to report news subscribe to this blog so you have an account then contact us!

Today we are announcing that foonas.org will be joining NAS-Central officially. This will mean the following changes over the coming months:
- Sites and services reorganised across servers (ie where they are hosted) for better security and lower management overhead
- foonas blog merged into the NAS-Central blog
- Possibly merge the bug trackers
- NAS-Central will be providing git access for developers
- foonas.org git will be moved to NAS-Central repo
- foonas forum area at the general NAS-Central forums
Apart from these changes foonas.org and NAS-Central sites and domains will remain as is. NAS-Central is happy to welcome any useful resource to our communities!

The Xtreamer e-Trayz NAS
Xtreamer have posted information on their upcoming e-TRAYz device in their forum. This device at first glance appears to include the standard features you would expect in a typical NAS and features a pretty low price tag for a two bay NAS!
Initially you will need to own one of their media streamer devices to order one of these babies. Also one bit of information for NAS-Central readers from the FAQ:
“Q. Will the eTRAYz be based on open source ?
A. No. The community will not be able to write code to this product nor it will be released.”
Thanks engadget.

The QNAP TS-219P
QNAP have a new Kirkwood based NAS device available – the TS-219P. This features the new 1.2 Ghz Marvell Kirkwood processor, 512 MB RAM and QNAPs new AJAX GUI and promises to be significantly faster than the older, slower Orion based models.
QNAPs products previously came with one of the best manufacturer supplied firmwares for home NAS devices and have good build quality but usually come out a bit more expensive than competing products. Read the review over at The Register and check out the TS-219P product page to see if they are keeping their standards high!
Update: For the curious pictures of the disassembly and internals of the TS-219P and the TS-219 are up at the Debian section of Martin Michlmayrs site.
